To Do Before I Die

Think of all the things you have accomplished in the last three months. Is it anything to write home about? Maybe one or two things but what do you plan to accomplish in the next month. Do you have any life altering goals? I encourage you all to take a step back and look at what you have made of your life. Are you the person you really want to be? If not make a change. Last year I decided that over the past 19 years of my life I have done nothing I really wanted to do. So, I decided to write down everything I want to do and I created a bucket list. Since that day I have written down 184 things I would like to do in my lifetime. Today I decided to share with you a couple of those things.

Some day, I would like to think that I will marry a wonderful man and when that does happen I want an absolutely unforgettable wedding. So, number 182 on my list is to have a photo booth at my wedding.

My dad is a professional photographer and ever since I was little photos have been a window into the past. I've always been obsessed with polaroids and old black and white pictures so I think it would only be fitting to have a photo booth at my wedding. I hope that all of my guests will enjoy the photo booth and leave little notes on the back of their photos for me to remember that special day.

Number 88 on my list is to one day attend Bonnaroo. As many of you might know Bonnaroo is a music festival that comes but once a year, it's kind of like Christmas. Every June this four day music festival is held in Manchester Tennessee. Over 150 bands will be performing this year for the ten year anniversary.

This year the festival is taking on a more hip hop style by featuring artists like Eminem and Lil Wayne. This is one of the reasons I have opted out going to the festival this year. Instead I hope to see another lineup much like the one of 2007 that featured artists like John Butler Trio and The Black Keys.

I know that those things will take time to arrange and won't happen in the next year but my last item I am going to share with you will happen within the next three months. Number 53 on my list is to work at Walt Disney World. On August 17th 2011 this will be my new home.

Working at Walt Disney World has always been a dream of mine and I can't wait to be apart of the dream team in the fall. I applied for the Disney College Program in February this year and found out that I would be working in a restaurant in the wonderful world at Disney. I hope this change is only for the better in my life and I'm excited to say that soon I can cross this off my list.

  1. These are such fun goals! I think that a photobooth is a great idea for a wedding. It would be so great if it printed two copies so you could have one and your guest could take one home as a little gift. I've never been to Bonnaroo but I have also wanted to go for a long time. I don't know how I would deal with not being able to take real showers and having to sleep on the ground though, haha. It would be worth it to see all of those musicians. I saw The Black Keys last year and they were incredible. It does seem like a lot of music festivals are turning more to pop and hip hop. I like all music but I think that it is nice to think of a festival as more of a folky/hippie/chill atmosphere. I'm glad you achieved your goal of working at Disney and I know that you'll have a lot of fun! All of my friends that have done the college program really enjoyed it. I hope you get to cross some more items off of your list soon!

  2. I don't think you realize how jealous I am that you get to work at Disney! You are going to have so much fun! I feel like your definitely not going to want to come home after that experience. I have also always wanted a photo booth at my wedding. I know it would be an instant hit with guest! What holds a memory better than a picture? I agree with Jamie, that it should print two copies that way your guest can take one home as a party favor and you could keep one and make a huge scrapbook of all of the photos. It would be something that you would remember forever. I say every year that I'm going to make it to Bonnaroo and I never do. I need to just buy a ticket next year. I think that Bonnaroo should keep to it's true roots and stick it's more "folkish", rock bands than hip-hop stuff. I think that the entire Bonnaroo experience would be quite an experience. I would try and make Bonnaroo my Woodstock experience.

  3. Kelly,
I really enjoyed reading this! The photo booth idea is so cute! My sister is getting married in September and I will definitely have to share your idea with her. I highly recommend attending a Bonnarooo concert sometime in the future. I went a few years back and it was amazing. The early you start looking for tickets, the cheaper they are…trust me. Congratulations on your new job. What better place to work than Disney World?! Your blog reminded me of that T.V. show, The Buried Life. Have you ever seen it?

  4. 1st. That is so awesome that you get to work at Disney World! When I was little my grandmother would take me and my brother every year and we would spend a week just exploring all of the parks. Are you primarily working at the magic kingdom or will you be working at all the Disney theme parks and learning the tricks of the trade for each park?
2nd. Thank you for letting us into your life and telling us what you have on your bucket list. We all have our own list, whether it is written down or not. One of my main one's is to go diving with Great White Sharks. Another is to take a trip to Nepal to a trail head and backpack to the summit of Mt. Everest. Just to be at the bottom of the mountain and to hear all of the climbing stories would be amazing. By posting something like this you get the rest of us think about our lives so that is the third thing I'd to say. Thank you for writing this.

  5. Kelly, making a bucket list is a great idea to keep track of life goals! It's actually on my imaginary bucket list to create a bucket list.lol Music festivals like Bonaroo would be on mine too, along with about 100 other things like traveling the world, living in Ireland for at least a few years, backpacking through Europe, living in a jungle or on an island for at least a few months, and having a family before I'm too old. But besides all those working at a Disney restaurant is definitely going to be a blast! I've had a few friends go through that and only one of them disliked it (though he was in fast foods and not exactly the job type anyway). Besides that I've only heard wonderful things about working at Disney and you're going to have tons of fun! Remember to take lots of pictures and always smile :)

  6. Kelly, I really like the idea of a bucket list. I never thought it was something that a guy my age should be thinking about though. Since I have read this I starting making my own bucket list. I was really bored since the summer started and thats even with working more than 40 hours a week plus online classes. This has greatly improved my mood and made me more optimistic about things. Also I might have a chance to cross a few off as soon as this summer. Thanks again.

  7. This is so cool. It definitely sounds like you have some great stuff on this list. I'm totally into getting a job at Disneyworld. It would be soooo sweet if you could be like...tinkerbelle when she flies out of the top of the castle on the hugs zip-line...badass. I also really like how you started off with the photobooth at the wedding. It just sounds like such a good and natural idea, you gotta wonder why it isen't done more often!

  8. The idea that you had of reflecting upon your life is really cool and inspiring. Getting a job in the field of work you love is really awesome and I'm glad you've done what you wanted to do. I plan on getting a band started in the next few months, so that is kind of life changing. At least it has the potential to be. I have not done much but absorb life my past two decades. Although I do plan to squeeze out everything I've learning into song and hopefully people will be able to relate to the experiences I would write about. I hope everything goes well for you Kelly!
